Bayford Hall Farm - British Dressage Team Hertfordshire

Anybody who knows Bayford Hall Farm in Bayford, Hertfordshire will be familiar with how majestic this stunning livery yard really is! Mature gardens surround the area and anything that vaguely resembles a plant or grass is very well cared for. Pristine is the word that springs to mind! So when I was granted permission to go along to the British Dressage Inter County Challenge test riding day for Team Hertfordshire, I couldn't wait!

Under the watchful and experienced eyes of Daisy Coakley (British Dressage riding, 8 national title winning, accredited UKCC L3 coaching Daisey Coakley!) and the established International Dressage rider and proprietor at Bayford Hall, Daniel Sherriff, the hopeful riders attended various viewing and training sessions at Bayford Hall Farm to be considered for the opportunity. The days were extremely well organised and well run by Samantha Williams, the true pin that held it all together!

British Dressage Inter County Challenge Team Selection

On Saturday the 8th of June, I spent the day photographing all the riders on the test riding day. This was the final opportunity to ride tests in front of a BD judge and gain a place on the team ahead of the Inter County Challenge on Saturday and Sunday 6thand 7th of June at Bury Farm Equestrian Village.

These were the photographic results I achieved on the day, and the picturesque setting with the mature tree neighbouring the arena and large laurel hedge border certainly helped to add a lot of interest and character to every image. They were very well received by the riders and I think the photographs made many people very happy!

The infamous guard goose...

Everybody rode really well - many of the horses found the bottom corner by the judges box particularly spooky, and certainly the rogue guard goose who insisted on acting as private security for a mother duck and her ducklings did not help matters! Several of us were personally victimised by said goose and as a result were hissed at and chased throughout the day for good measure - quite comical for onlookers in the moment really!

Hello, my name is Holly...

Welcome to my blog

I am an equine photographer based in Essex, England. I've owned and ridden horses always, and I've never known a life without them! I've started this little blog for my many ramblings. I've always liked to write, but previously had no outlet for it - now I do! I write about all my photography adventures, horses and dogs so if you like any of those things, you're in the right place! Maybe we'll even get to work together some day...
