I love her dearly, but Penny taught me a few lessons early on...
Exercise
Lurchers don’t need as much exercise as they look like they do! Don’t get me wrong, she has a screw loose in there somewhere. She loves to show me how fast she can run when given the chance… And don’t even say the Z word! (ZOOMIES!) But after that initial little energy burst and some training games, she’s ready for a long nap! I truly believe anybody who tells me they can’t tire out their lurcher (and mine is a Saluki cross, so even more so of the stubborn/crazy variety!) just hasn’t quite tapped into that clever little brain yet. She is a SMART little dog, and she desperately wants to learn!
Pointy faces...
I spent the first few weeks thinking ’she has a really pointy face’ and then I learnt that was actually a term commonly used within the sighthound community!
THIEF!
She is an actual thief - no item is safe! What's hers is hers, and what's mine is also hers...
Inspector Gadget...
She has go-go-gadget arms to go with her thieving tendencies making hard-to-reach items no problem at all!
Clumsy
No idea where her legs are supposed to be, she runs a bit like Phoebe from Friends - limbs everywhere. I think this probably sadly comes from her early life living in a confined space, but it’s probably the reason why she wasn’t kept to be used for the blood sport she was supposed to partake in!
Bonus lesson... Sofas are life
Never have I ever known a dog able to make themselves such a heavy dead weight when I try to get her off the sofa! It's like trying to shift an elephant with the force of a paper straw. Not happening. It's as if she's discovered super glue!
Hello, my name is Holly...
Welcome to my blog
I am an equine & canine photographer based in Essex, England. I've owned and ridden horses always, and I've never known a life without them! I've started this little blog for my many ramblings as I've always enjoyed writing but I've never had an outlet for it - and now I do! I write for a few reasons - mainly to educate or entertain. You'll find me writing regularly about all things photography, horses and dogs so if you like any of those things, you're in the right place! Thanks for joining x
