Mini Shoots with Holly Outtridge Photography

As we enter 2025 I thought it would be helpful to provide an overview of last years mini shoots. If you're an owner who is unsure about booking a shoot for yourself with your horse or dog, then hopefully this will help!

My name is Holly and I am an Equine photographer from Essex. I travel all over the place (literally, everywhere!) capturing the lives of those who treasure their relationships with their animals and the lifestyle that inevitably comes with that.

How does a mini shoot work for horses or dogs?

Each photographer is different in how they choose to operate, but this is how I do things. A few times a year (usually once per season) I will set aside a dedicated date to host small photoshoot sessions - mini shoots. These are limited edition due to popularity and time constraints. In Holly Outtridge Photography world, this means that there are a few details that are pre-determined such as:

  • The date
  • The location
  • The timings

These details are pre-determined and clients can choose to book a session time if they wish.

What are some examples of seasonal mini shoots?

Lavender mini shoots

My fastest sold-out limited edition sessions were my Lavender mini sessions. I partnered with a wonderful boutique family run Lavender farm in Hertfordshire, Louise, and hosted several mini sessions for clients! Both horses and dogs were welcome, and owners took the opportunity to get involved for some of the photographs!

Christmas card mini sessions

My Christmas mini sessions have been the most successful long term and I've been hosting these year on year for the last 4 or 5 years to date. Each year they start earlier and earlier - in 2023 I even had somebody book their horse to have their Christmas session in July due to living out and sadly, old age. These mini sessions are slightly different in that I need to travel to my clients, so generally speaking we look to tag 2 or more sessions on at the same yard and make a fun morning of it! Generally speaking Christmas mini sessions are for horses rather than dogs, but oftentimes the owners love getting involved all the same!

What happens?

When booking on to one of my mini sessions regardless of what season and when, I make sure the process is fully guided for each client. Some clients have specific requirements - dogs that need space, a small tribe of children to gather, or a horse that can be a bit giddy in new places. It's my job to think about these things along with you and plan accordingly to make the experience as smooth as possible and most importantly, fun for everybody!

Each booking receives a welcome guide, we'll chat over the phone to introduce ourselves a little better and then after the photography session, we will have a viewing session to select your favourite images from the shoot!

What is a viewing session?

A viewing session is without a doubt the BEST bit of my photoshoot process. Sure, the photoshoot is fun and all but SEEING the results? Unrivalled!

We meet up a few weeks after the shoot and you get to see all of my samples. You can inspect each one and we can discuss what will best suit your home. At this appointment you choose which products will work best for you and we design frames and albums there in the appointment.

My job is to make you see all of the things you feel when you look at your animals and family. All of the emotions that you can't physically hold and the comfortingly familiar expressions of your loved ones will be right there finally tangible in front of you.

Hello, my name is Holly...

Welcome to my blog

I am an equine photographer based in Essex, England. I've owned and ridden horses always, and I've never known a life without them! I've started this little blog for my many ramblings. I've always liked to write, but previously had no outlet for it - now I do! I write about all my photography adventures, horses and dogs so if you like any of those things, you're in the right place! Maybe we'll even get to work together some day...
